A yacht marina on the French Riviera

Mediterranean

The Mediterranean.

Long lunches ashore, old harbours and a different pace from one coastline to the next.

The region

Several coastlines. Very different weeks.

Greece, Croatia, Italy, the South of France and the Balearics each offer a different kind of charter. I start by narrowing the coastline around the people travelling, the time of year and how they want the week to feel.

One possible week

Athens and the Saronic Gulf.

A straightforward seven-day example in Greece. The route for an actual charter would follow the chosen cruising ground, the conditions and your preferred pace.

  1. Day 01

    Athens to Poros

Settle in, leave the city behind and anchor off Poros for the first evening.

  2. Day 02

    Poros to Hydra

Swim before breakfast, then take the short run to Hydra and go ashore for dinner.

  3. Day 03

    Hydra to Spetses

Spend the day between quiet bays before an evening in Spetses.

  4. Day 04

    Spetses to Dokos

Keep this one simple: clear water, lunch on board and a quiet anchorage.

  5. Day 05

    Dokos to Ermioni

A slower morning, then Ermioni for a walk and dinner ashore.

  6. Day 06

    Ermioni to Aegina

Cruise back towards Athens with one more afternoon in the water.

  7. Day 07

    Aegina to Athens

Breakfast at anchor, a final swim and an easy return to the marina.

Thinking about the Mediterranean?

Tell me who is coming and roughly when. I will come back with a sensible place to start.
